Restraw Bent Glass Straw
Why You Should Not Use Plastic Straws
For something that is so small and insignificant, it has an incredibly negative impact on the environment.
This is not only true for when it becomes rubbish, releases toxins into groundwater, or even lands up in oceans killing birds and sea life, but its entire life cycle impacts our beautiful planet at every step of the way.
The life cycle of a single-use plastic straw is ridiculous for something that is only used for an average of 15 minutes.
Our products have been carefully conceptualized and crafted to be as environmentally friendly as possible, from start to finish. We, therefore, use the sustainable materials as far as we can and produce as much with our South African brothers and sisters as possible.
Our glass straws are also manufactured and branded locally, each one is handcrafted with the utmost care. We have partnered with an incredible company called Upcycle (www.upcycle.co.za) to make our beautiful hemp sleeves. They teach and empower people in various communities to make a living from the resources they have at hand.
We use 100% hemp fabric for the sleeves as it is incredibly sustainable, cruelty-free, antibacterial and antifungal. The packaging is made from the recycled and biodegradable material. We have requested that our suppliers stay away from using plastic for any of our products and rather use paper if necessary.
